Goodies Galore

It’s been a busy spring and the fun is just beginning. One last tidbit from my show in April with David Brennan and Matthew Carlson…we had an article written about the show in the Daily News Record. It was nice to have some coverage and it will be one more thing to include in our grant report for the Arts Council of the Valley. We have already been scheming about new ideas for potential future shows as a group, so stay tuned!

Spring is also one of the busiest times of year for donating art to fundraisers or events.  Two events that I have been consistently donating to are the Renaissance Night fundraiser for Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and Art Lotto, a portrait show that I am participating in for the third year.  Here are this year’s donations…

Of course, the only problem with donating things is that I end up wanting to keep them! While it is very tempting to donate items that I have not sold elsewhere or that I am personally tired of seeing around my house, I force myself to go out of my way to create something new of high quality. Part of the benefit of donating art is to get my name out into the community and it is important to put forth my best work.

In some exciting news, I was asked several months ago to consider showing my jewelry at a new shop in Staunton, Virginia, called Sweet P’s Antiques & Artisan Market. It is a cute shop on Beverly Street, with antiques on the top floor and an artisan market in the bottom floor. My jewelry is actually on display on the top floor with the antiques. The shop had their soft opening last week and will be holding a grand opening soon. Sweet P’s is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10-6 and Sundays from 10-4. I was just contacted by the owner on Sunday, who wanted to let me know that I had already sold a necklace in their first week of being open! Here’s a shot of some of the earrings for sale there…

Lastly, I just created a Facebook page last week for Rhodarts. Head on over and check it out, like the page, and stay updated on all everything art! I plan to post sales and other specials and such on that page, so there are benefits to staying up to date.
